Our ESG Commitment
The Birkdale Leadership team spent their formative careers with major firms that shared a commitment to exemplary HSSE performance and business ethics – Shell, BP, Conoco, EC Harris and others. Consequently, we share a common goal to maintain and where possible amplify this commitment. In our view, companies and organisations have a moral duty to put in place procedures to manage their Environmental, Social and Governance performance to ensure its sustainability. Inadequate attention to ESG performance increases the risk of developing a poor business reputation which impacts long-term viability and therefore sustainability of a company.
Birkdale hereby commit to;
Support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights and ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining, the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour, the effective abolition of child labour and the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges, undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility and encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
